Daughter of the Pirate King

Spoiler-Free Review

The first time I read this book I wasn't expecting a whole lot. I was busy with school and just getting ready to graduate so I needed some kind of tension relief. Enter Daughter of the Pirate King and my heart.

I am in love with this story. As a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, I was drawn to the words "female Captain Jack Sparrow", I was nervous about what that could mean but I will never doubt again. Tricia Levenseller does a fantastic job of bringing to life relatable, wonderfully irritating characters.

Alosa, the heroine on this epic journey, and the fiery redhead who is the Pirate princess. She is everything you would expect from a pirate and so much more. I am so pleased with how her character developed and grew with each chapter.

Riden. Will Turner be still my beating heart for now there are two. He is dashingly handsome, the kindest pirate to ever live, and A NEAT FREAK. It brought me so much joy to have so many contrasts played out in this character. Pirates are associated to be evil and smelly and gross and then in comes Riden.

If you haven't read this book yet then you are in for an absolute treat with swoon-worthy romance that seems to always be just beyond reach, to fight scenes only fitting for a pirate.
